Comics I *Did* Read on 5-7-08

Turns out, I did get a chance to read some of the new comics this week.

Invincible Iron Man #1 will be very enjoyable for those that enjoyed the movie and didn’t know much about Iron Man. Even if you do know lots about Iron Man, it’s still a good story. It seemed longer than the usual comic book, which means 1) it had more pages, or 2) it was so well written it took a while to get through it. Both good things, and the characters seemed like their movie counterparts, though I think it’s better to remember the movie characters seemed like their comics counterparts.

Cable #3 continues the story of Cable escaping into the future with the first mutant baby born after M-Day (the day the X-factor gene got ‘switched off’). Bishop is after the baby to kill it, because apparently it’s responsible for the genocidal future where Bishop is from.

Comics for 5-7-08

Almost every week I go to the comic store and there is a man who sits in a car outside, reading comics. He must get there a few minutes before I do, every week, buys his comics, and then goes to his car, unable to contain the excitement and reads them right there in the parking lot. This doesn’t really bother me, except for the fact that he leaves his car running. He’s there when I go into the store and there when I leave, and I don’t know how long he stays.

Anyway, here is the list of comics I picked up this week:

X-Factor One Shot
Avengers/Invaders
Secret Invasion #2
The Invincible Iron Man #1 (if you liked the movie, here is a new series to jump on)
Action Comics Annual #11
Detective Comics #844
The Boys #18
Nightwing #144
Amazing Spider-Man #558
Cable #3
Logan #3
Omega the Unknown #8
Young X-Men #2

I am backlogged about six months, so the liklihood of me reading any of these this week is 0.07%.
